Mental Strength


Mental strength refers to the ability to stay strong in the phase of adversity and to keep yourself determined and focused despite the difficulties you encountered. Mentally strong person sees the challeges and adversities as an opportunity and not a threat. And takes positive approach to come out of the troubles.

Mental Health and Physical Health:


Mental and physical health are two sides of a coin. They both are related to each other and affect each other. If we are not mentally strong, our physical health suffers and if we are not physically strong, it affects negatively on our mental health.

Physical health can be recovered with healthy diet and medicines but it takes so much time and efforts to cope up with mental weakness. It's all about to train your brain and to struggle with your inner feelings, thoughts and emotions. 

Effects of Mental Status on different age groups:
The whole world is going through social and economical changes. Also traditional support systems are changing to industrialization and urbanization. That's why rate of depression and stress is increasing in whole world which leads to suicide attempts, drug addiction and broken relationships.

Depression can be occured at any age. Different age groups face different types of pressure and problems which leads to stress and anxiety. 

Children
These days, school going children face many emotional troubles and it affects on their mental health. There may be many reasons for that. Those are
  • Both parents are working because of high expenditure on living which tends to loneliness to children. Some of them become self independent and others feel mental trauma. Children need attention at that time of growing age.
  • There is very strict atmosphere in some families. Children are very soft by heart. Extra discipline and strictness may lead to some mental disorders in such type of children.
  • Overloading of books and studies is also the reason behind the mental weakness of children. 
Teenagers
Teenagers are the major target of mental health issues. In the age of competetion they have extra pressure and burden for scoring high marks. They go through many thoughts and emotions at that time and sometimes become nervous. 

Youth
Youth are also very sensitive to mental health weakness. Because of extra workload and hidden politics for promotion in private companies, many youth are suffered with stress and anxiety. Because of the heavy population, they don't get job according to their qualification. This is also the reason behind mental health problems in youth.
Also, it is the time of creating and breaking relationships. The ups and downs of their love life also leave them in trauma and tension.

Married Couples
Today, man and woman are treated equally. They both go out for work. So they cannot give time to each other. They can't understand the feelings and emotions of their partner. Sometimes conficts occur between the relationship which resulted in divorce and break ups. This is also the major reason behind the mental health issues in married couples.

Old Age people
Old age people are most sensitive to depression and anxiety. Because of the retirements of their works and loneliness, they feel insecured. 
Also many of them have been lost their partners at this age which is the reason of their stress. 
Many people in this age have medicsl issues and they have gone through big surgical operations. This effects on their mental strength negatively.

Also their are many common reasons behind depression which hurts mental strength. These are:

1. Unable to handle situation: Some people are not able to handle stress and run away from issues. They hide then behind the mask of drugs, drinks, etc instead of facing the situation.

2. Allowing bad experiences to define life: We all face some bad experiences in our life such as accidents, divorce, death of a loved one. Some stay in pain and don't try to move forward and deal with the life's tough pains.

3. Being surrounded by the cheerleaders: It is also a big reason behind depression. These type of people cannot handle criticism and truth. They always confused with a lie. 

4. Scared of failure: The people who always get success in life are also get heavily depressed, when things are not going according to them. When there is any adverse situation, they feel scared of failure and sometimes commit suicide.

5. Easily Manipulated: Some people believe everthing they hear from others. They cannot see the truth and choose to be in manipulated thought. Sometimes because of believing the half truth, these people become stressed easily.

How to get Mental Strength:


There are many ways to get mental strength. It may be easy or may be difficult for person to person depending on the level of depression they feel. Here are some tips for mental strength:

Doing new things:
When you keep doing same things again and again, some regions of your brain might have inactive for a long time. When we learn a new skill, our brain is wired on a deep level. Involve your brain in new activities can handle your mental pressure easily. These activities may be
  • Learning new hobbies
  • Cooking
  • Enjoying differen type of movies, games, books
  • Speaking to new influent people
  • Reading motivational quotes from good writers
Doing Yoga
Involving Yoga and meditation in your daily activities will pacify your inner stress and boost up your mental strength. It also increase the quality of life and mental health.

Offering Prayer
Offering prayer to your God every morning is the best remedy for mental strength. It strengthen your inner power and give you the confidence to face unwanted situations. It also pacify the stress. It seems to be something traditional, but trust me it works very well. You don't need to do it for a longer time but doing it regularly for shorter period of time will definitely help you to make up your mind stable.

Get in touch with your sense organs
Sense organs are directly connected to brain through sensory information. To exercise your brain can be engage it through all your sense organs such as sight, sound, touch, taste and smell in non routine ways. Travel, camping and gardening can utilize all your senses in new ways.

Stop Laziness
One of the main problem for mental weakness is laziness so stop being lazy tends to be mentally happy and healthy. 

Mental hygeine
Mental hygeine is to remove negative thoughts and clean the mind by putting positivity in it. It can be improved by meditating and relaxing.

Stop Overthinking
Average person experiences mote thoughts than a mind can handle. Out of which 80%  are negative. Repeatitive negative thoughts cause depression. So stop overthinking is also an important way to be a mentally strong person.

Emotional Regulation
Regulate your emotions in a positive way also helps to overcome your stress. Having high emotional intelligence, we can easily recover from mental weakness. It would be beneficial for mental strength.

Stop social pressure
Social pressure may lead to weaken your mental strength especially in teenagers who work badly. Constant stress and pressure can seriously effect on mental health. So take steps to overcome social pressure.

Mental Fortitude
Mental fortitudeis to stick to your goals which is vital to success in life. We lose mental strength through external pressures. Your husband/wife/boss/friends put pressure on you. You told to do ghings which you don't want do and give up to otjer people damands. Affects negetively your inner strength. 
With mental fortitude, we don't bow down to people and live with integrity. It helps us to keep our inner strength.

Courage build up 
Courage is very important aspect for building mental strength. It is the ability to overcome challenges. It makes you stronger.

These are tips to keep our mind healthy and strong. Our mind is the power house for achieving success. Don't let it be down. Try to follow these tips if you are going through stress and depression.
