Ira Trivedi is an Indian Author, columnist and yoga teacher. She is the founder of Namami Yoga, an organisation that brings Yoga to adults and children. The foundation conducts Yoga classes in Delhi. Ira Trivedi is popular for speaking on the issues of gender, women and youth on news channel regularly

• She had two yoga shows in India, including one on Doordarshan National and on India Today.
• She is the author of  "10 minute yoga solution" and "My book of Yoga series" featuring Om the Yoga doc.
• She teaches yoga around the world and was part of the leading the first International Yoga day at Rajpath, New Delhi.

Ira Trivedi Controversy

Yoga teacher became in flashlight of controversy while running her show last year. The controversy erupted after her interview which was viraled from her News 18 interview. According to Ira Trivedi, she described beef as the cheapest source of protein. This was the time when ban on beef was campaigning in India.

The yoga teacher also said in her interview," Malnutrituon is a huge problem in our country, and it would be unfair to Muslims and other communities to ban the cheapest source of protein." 

This interview of Ira Trivedi was taken against the sentiments of Hindu community. Twitter users pointed out these comments as anti hindu and wondered what Ira Trivedi was doing at Doordarshan,the countries national broadcasting channel.

After these tweets by Ira Trivedi, people demanded her removal from the Doordarshan on socia media. Then Doordarshan discontinued her yoga show from their channel. 

BJP volunteer Vikas Pandey also pointed her prejudice against Hinduism and he also twitted for her anti Hindu statements. 

Post controversy statements by Ira Trivedi

Consequently , Ira Trivedi claimed that her tweets were taken out of context and reaffirmed her commitment towards the Hindu faith. Ultimately she had deactivated her Twitter account to cover up her anti hindu views.

After the controversy, Doordarshan was instructed to discontinue the rerun of one of her shows after her tweets hurting Hindu sentiments had gone viral on social media. Then Doordarshan discontinued one of her running shows.

Comeback of  Ira Trivedi

After one year of the incident, Doordarshan has now decided to commence the new show with Ira Trivedi which has to be scheduled on Doordarshan from 24th June at 6:30 pm. It is being hosted by the digital India portal using the Zoom video conferencing platform.

Conclusion

Being a known celebrity, it is very insensitive and irresponsible of Ira Trivedi to tweet these type of anti community statements. Being the citizen of democratic country, everyone has the right to express their feelings. But it doesn't mean to offend the feelings of a specific group or community.
